Are You Peninnah or Hannah?

1 Samuel 1:20

Elkanah had 2 wives:

Penninah had given him lots of children. Hannah was barren and Penninah teased Hannah. But Elkanah loved and cherished Hannah.

Just like today, women think a man will leave his wife because that woman offers something the wife does not/cannot. But when Elkanah saw Hannah sad and not eating, he said “You mean more to me than 10 sons and vice versa. Don’t worry about that. I don’t care about that. I care about you!”

He looked at Hannah in a way he would never look at Peninnah. Today, it’s the same! What a woman offers sexually does not secure his heart for her. He even gave Hannah double portions of everything because he loved Hannah. The Bible does not say, “He loved Peninnah.” Her picking on Hannah proved to be in vain; it was a loss for her and eventually a win for Hannah. Because Hannah was so hurt that she cried to God in prayer and in faith, she became pregnant.

Peninnah still does not have his heart, only a lot of kids. Hannah has his heart and promised child, Samuel, who has a whole book named after him! Two books, to be precise!

We as women must be careful not to be too focused on what our bodies can offer a man. Do you have his heart? Offering one’s body does not win his heart. It wins his horniness. When you have his heart, so many other things another woman offers doesn’t even matter.
